International Day of Women in Science 2023/2024

On February 11th, we marked the International Day of Women in Science by visiting local high schools. Julia Guerrero-Viu and I gave talks about our research and the exciting opportunities in science careers. We aimed to inspire young girls to explore and pursue careers in STEM fields.

European Researchers' Night 2023

I participated in the Researcher’s Night of 2023. Every year, at the end of September, researchers from all over Europe organize fun and engaging activities that bring closer science and researchers to the general public. This year, we organized the workshop “Discover the virtual and computer graphics world” at the Caixa Forum (Zaragoza), with a stand about virtual and augmented reality, pinhole cameras, visual effects, and how light propagates.

Una Ingeniera en cada cole 2023

Together with fellow female engineers, I have been involved in this year's edition of "Una ingeniera en cada cole" ("A female engineer in every school") initiative, which aims to increase the visibility and representation of women in engineering fields. Within the initiative, we visited primary schools to educate young children about the engineering field and our daily work. We talk about significant women in engineering and computer science history to inspire their interest in the field. Lastly, we did an enjoyable session on augmented reality (AR) with the children.

Girls' Day 2022

I participated in this year's Girls' Day with my colleagues from the Graphics & Imagine Lab, which focuses on raising the visibility of women in science. During the event, we introduced our research projects to high school students and let them experience interactive virtual reality applications and games. We hope that the students enjoyed their time with us and gained a better understanding of the potential of research, emphasizing that it is an inclusive place for everyone.
